Autumn 2018 Newsletter

Please see below our latest newsletter which includes an exciting announcement on new funding for the FMP for three years from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. This will include a new phase of FMP Ambassadors:

We also have 2 potential PhD studentships available, see more in the newsletter and below:

  1. Two new PhD studentship opportunities available: http://www.floodplainmeadows.org.uk/content/two-exciting-new-phd-opportunities-fmp

Alongside these announcements, we can also share the publication of a paper on natural capital of floodplains http://www.floodplainmeadows.org.uk/content/assessing-value-floodplain-landuses

Also in the newsletter:

  • Find out how our floodplain meadow restoration visits have gone (we are now writing up the 3 years’ worth of survey and discussion with landowners).
  • Keep up with two of our PhD students, Laura and James looking respectively at Irish Turloughs and Natural Flood Management in the Thames floodplain.
  • Read more about where the amazing photo on page 1 was taken (hint, we went to the Outer Hebrides to explore species rich wet grassland there).

Finally, at the last minute, we have a date for our Fritillary winter workshop (20th Feb, Cricklade, Wiltshire) and a provisional fritillary count date of 23rd April (tbc). Get in touch if you want to join us.
