We have followed with great interest the development of a new series of National Meadows Conferences which started in 2024. These were initiated by the tremendous Marches Meadows Group (MMG) https://www.marchesmeadowgroup.com/ in partnership with Middle Marches Community Land Trust (MMCLT) https://middlemarchescommunitylandtrust.org.uk/ and we were invited to talk at the first one in 2024. The MMG & MMCLT wanted to bring together as many meadows groups and seed producers working across the country as possible, so everyone can share experiences, learn and press for change together. And there are very many meadows groups indeed, all doing work that suits their local areas and objectives, with many cross cutting themes and issues.
The second conference was held at the Emorsgate Seeds farm near bath in August this year and was a fantastic event held on a glorious sunny day, in a marquee with a splendid view. We think its fair to say this grouping is long overdue and we very much hope it can continue. Outputs from the day can be found here Meadows conference: 15/8/25 | Middle Marches Community Land Trust and National Meadows Conference 2025 | Hosted by Emorsgate Seeds - Emorsgate Seeds
We were treated to an introduction by George Peterken, a scything demonstration from Richard Brown, and a range of talks from meadows groups.
A third event is planned for summer 2026 and is currently in development with Kew (Wakehurst) https://www.kew.org/wakehurst. To join the list for notification about this event contact MMCLT on info@middlemarchescommunitylandtrust.org.uk
